David Wagner, Ph.D., Author
He is the author of ten books, including Checkerboard Square: Culture and Resistance in a Homeless Community, which won the C. Wright Mills Award and The New Temperance: America’s Obsession with Sin and Vice which won the Northeast Popular Culture Association Book Award.
David was an undergraduate and graduate student at Columbia University in New York City, receiving his doctorate from the Graduate Center at the City University of New York. He was a Distinguished Visiting Professor at California State University at Dominguez Hills in 2009 and an adjunct there in Sociology in the 2010s.
David Wagner would like to thank the Society for the Study of Social Problems for awarding him the C. Wright Mills award. David would also like to thank the people from the National Coalition for the Homeless for being very helpful and cooperative with several of his books.
He now lives in Long Beach, CA.
